AB168 is a remote, portable AudioRack unit intended for use with Allen & Heath GLD and Qu series digital consoles, both in live sound systems and in fixed installations. Equipped with 16 mic preamps with phantom power indicators, and 8 line outputs via XLR connectors, AB168 works with Allen & Heath's exclusive dSNAKE protocol, and is compatible with both Qu series consoles and GLD series. By adding an AB168 unit to a Qu or GLD system, some or all of the inputs and outputs can be positioned up to 120 meters from the mixer. The unit connects to the Qu/GLD mixer or an AudioRack AR2412 unit via a single Cat5 cable and a dSNAKE EtherCon port. A second EtherCon port is provided to allow serial connection with another AB168 unit or for connection to an ME personal mixing system. The AB168 unit automatically updates its firmware to synchronize with the system. The robust design of this unit, which also includes solid rubber feet, has been designed so that it can reliably handle touring and can be placed on stage during performances. Weighing only 4.8 kg and having solid carrying handles, ease of transport is guaranteed. An optional rack mounting kit is also available.
