ZEDi-8 provides musicians, both live and recording, and small venues with the robustness and immediate control of an analog mixer, combined with the versatility and effectiveness of a 2x2 USB interface. Incorporating the new GSPre pramplifiers, developed from the revered GS-R24 studio console, the ZED mixer features exceptionally low noise and a very high headroom, with a warm, deep analogue sound. Guitarists will find the ZEDi-8's two high-impedance guitar DI inputs especially interesting, allowing guitars to be connected directly to the mixer without the need for expensive external DI boxes. ZEDi-8 incorporates a 2-input, 2-output USB audio interface, with a resolution of 24-bit/96kHz, which allows recording and playback to/from a PC or Mac computer, or also to an iOS device using the iOS camera kit. The USB output source can be configured in different ways to suit the user's way of working. ZEDi-8 includes the popular Cubase LE software, which offers powerful, yet easy-to-use user interface software tools for audio recording, editing, MIDI sequencing and mixing. The mixer also includes the Cubasis LE app. This is a compact version of the Steinberg sequencer for iPad, which provides similar features to Cubasis, and has been designed to offer fast and extremely easy handling, allowing recording, editing and mixing. All ZED mixers have been designed and built to meet the high demands that Allen & Health sets for their products to withstand the rigors of touring use. All channels are housed on individual, vertically mounted printed circuit boards, and all rotary controls are secured to the front panel with a steel nut to protect against impact damage.
