The small 8020D bi-amplified monitor has been designed for monitoring in hard-to-hear environments, especially those where space is lacking. However, its size is not a limitation since this active two-way monitor incorporates the innovations in acoustic design developed by Genelec to minimize all forms of distortion. The 8020D has a Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) aluminum enclosure, which has relatively large internal volumes, curved edges and surprising mechanical strength. As a result, the accuracy in the image and extension of the low frequencies offered by such a compact enclosure is truly amazing. It also incorporates the advanced Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), which provides truly fantastic in-and-out response, while the long, curved reflex port finished in a wide mouth provides excellent bass articulation. The monitor incorporates a 105 mm (4 ") bass transducer and a 19 mm (3/4") twetter mounted on Genelec's advanced Directivity Controlled Waveguide (DCW) waveguide. The frequency response in free field is from 66 Hz to 20 kHz (± 2.5 dB). The maximum SPL peak per pair with musical material is 105 dB at 1 meter. The bass and treble are amplified with two 20W amplifiers. The 8020D can be combined with the 7050B Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) subwoofer to configure a powerful surround monitoring system with extensive frequency response. Available in matt black, white and polished aluminum. As part of its sustainability program, Genelec has developed long-term research to minimize consumption of its products. The first step in this program is the introduction of the Intelligent Signal Sensing ISS power management system. This feature causes the Genelec monitors and subwoofers to go into standby mode in the absence of the input signal. The power consumption in this mode is less than 0.5W. The ISS power management system complies with the requirements of the ErP-2013 standard. ISS has been implemented using programmable electronics. When the input signal remains below the activation level, a counter measures a predetermined time before the system goes into standby mode. This time before the standby mode may vary between different products, depending on your specific needs. The level of analog input signal that wakes the system is around -68 dBu. The activation is done quickly and the system is connected silently, without any audible noise.
