The 8040B incorporates the Iso-Pod (Isolation Positioner / Decoupler) support, which eliminates the coloration of the sound by uncoupling the monitor from the surface on which it rests. The Iso-Pod also allows the monitor to be placed at an angle where its acoustic axis is oriented directly towards the listener. The first step in this program is the introduction of the Intelligent Signal Sensing ISS power management system. This feature causes the Genelec monitors and subwoofers to go into standby mode in the absence of the input signal. The power consumption in this mode is less than 0.5W. The ISS power management system complies with the requirements of the ErP-2013 standard. ISS has been implemented using programmable electronics. When the input signal remains below the activation level, a counter measures a predetermined time before the system goes into standby mode. This time before the standby mode may vary between different products, depending on your specific needs. The level of analog input signal that wakes the system is around -68 dBu. The activation is done quickly and the system is connected silently, without any audible noise.
