The 8050B is a powerful bi-amplified monitor capable of producing peak SPL levels of more than 120 dB per pair, and offering a bass response that extends up to 35 Hz. It incorporates an 8 "woofer and a 1" treble unit with metal dome and DCW waveguides. The sophisticated active crossover has versatile controls to adapt the behavior of the monitor to difficult acoustic environments. It has specific low distortion power amplifiers for each transducer, which also include protection circuits. The efficient and robust MDE enclosure (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) includes a long, curved reflex port that provides low frequencies with minimal compression, distortion and noise generated at the port. The curved front and sides of the MDE enclosure and the advanced Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), exclusive to Genelec, provide an exceptionally uniform frequency response both on and off the axis, an accurate sound image and optimal directivity across the audio spectrum . The assembly of the 8050B is very easy thanks to the Iso-Pod (Isolation Positioner / Decoupler) included, which eliminates the coloration of the sound by uncoupling the monitor from its mounting surface. The monitor can be tilted on the Iso-Pod so that the acoustic axis points directly at the listener. Other mounting options are also possible, using the integrated mounting points located at the back of the enclosure, or the M10 threaded point located at the base of the enclosure. The first step in this program is the introduction of the Intelligent Signal Sensing ISS power management system. This feature causes the Genelec monitors and subwoofers to go into standby mode in the absence of the input signal. The power consumption in this mode is less than 0.5W. The ISS power management system complies with the requirements of the ErP-2013 standard. ISS has been implemented using programmable electronics. When the input signal remains below the activation level, a counter measures a predetermined time before the system goes into standby mode. This time before the standby mode may vary between different products, depending on your specific needs. The level of analog input signal that wakes the system is around -68 dBu. The activation is done quickly and the system is connected silently, without any audible noise.
