The SV-2 contains over ten times the sample data available on previous SV models, providing ample memory for many entirely new piano and keyboard sounds. The SV-2 has 72 excellent sounds, and provides 64 memory locations to store edited Favorites, for instant access during your performance. Using the SV-2 Editor software, users can now create their own programs, divided and layered, and save them to one of the Favorites locations. In fact, a single favorite can access up to three timbres at once: a piano / bass split with a layer of strings, for example. Although user divisions must be created using the SV-2 Editor, the division point on the keyboard can be adjusted directly from the front panel. Additionally, the SV-2's polyphony now reaches 128 voices, allowing you to create more effective sound layers or sustained chords.

The SV-2 represents the pinnacle of careful audio sampling techniques and instrument design, offering the most demanding and accurate interpretation of so many keyboard classics. Using only the best-maintained instruments and the latest multi-microphone methods, each sound has been captured as accurately as possible. The attack of the pick, the release of the hammer, the click of the contacts, each element is surprisingly preserved in the RX layer, mix as much as you need of these authentic artifacts. Furthermore, the full dynamic range of each instrument has been faithfully preserved, recreating all the volume and timbral changes generated from one touch ppp (pianississimo) to fff (fortississimo) and all inter-mean values. This detailed sampling system creates a three-dimensional sense of presence, allowing the sound to fully take its place in the mix or in the performance space.

All SV-2 Stage Vintage instruments share the best KORG RH3 hammer-graded action keyboard. Just like on a grand piano, the weight of the keys is graduated through the keyboard, heavier on the lower registers and increasingly lighter on the upper registers. This RH3 keyboard is remarkably sensitive to the nuances of every performance, accurately delivering every expressive element. Selecting one of eight different velocity curves allows the keyboard response to suit any playing style. Authentic to the end, the SV-2 offers eight tuning schemes including equal tuning, expanded grand piano, extended electric piano, electronic grand piano, upright piano extended, detuned, and two user-defined types (configurable via the free SV-2 Editor). The SV-2's overall tuning, or concert tone, can be adjusted to match another instrument or a previously recorded track. It goes without saying that the SV-2 can be transposed at any scale.
