The 8 pre USB 2.0 audio interface offers everything you need to turn a computer into a powerful 24-bit, 96kHz DAW (digital audio workstation) with a quality/price ratio without many competitors on the market. Eight mic preamps with 48V phantom power and crystal clear analog signal recording and digital conversion at frequencies up to 96kHz. The mic preamps are further combined with 8 optical ADAT channels of digital I/O. Easily expand your system by connecting additional 8 pre units to other MOTU interfaces such as the 828MkIII or 896HD to increase the number of inputs and outputs available on any system.

You can use the Cue Mix software to mix the 16 inputs from your computer and get up to 4 different mixes of the input signals to, for example, send them to musicians in the recording booth or to stage monitors. The 8 ADAT channels make your 8pre the ideal companion for your digital mixing console (which has ADAT inputs), or you can use it to increase the total number of inputs to your DAW system.

If you have a 2408 MkIII you can use the 8pre connected to the ADAT inputs on it to get an additional 8 mic input channels and all at 96Khz.

In addition to all these possibilities, we also have a MIDI in-out port with the precision timing characteristics that have made MOTU's midi interfaces famous.
